Home Study Update

As of October 28, it was time to update our home study so that means we have been approved for a year and no placement. Johnny and I are working on updating the home study and go Friday for the interview. We are still praying and waiting for our forever child. We also are constantly praying for all birthmothers that are thinking about adoption. God is in control and He has a plan that is on His timetable and not ours.
People say that adoption is a roller coaster ride and that is so true!!!
On another note, November is Adoption Awareness Month!! Please remember everyone that is involved in any form or fashion of adoption.

Sunday Sermon … Is He Adopted

This is a sermon that was preached by our youth minster, who has an adopted son. The notes came from Jason on Word Keeper. I thougtht it would be good to share.

Is He Adopted

When people adopt a child, you can usually tell. The adopted child doesn’t look like the parents who adopted him/her. But s/he usually acts like the parents. …
Galatians 4:4-8
God adopted us as His children.

Human adoption is a picture of our adoption by God.

There is a need for adoption (John 14:8). Little children need parents who can love and care for them unconditionally. We need God who does love and care for us unconditionally. … God does not need us (Acts 17:24-25). He wants us to choose to be His children so He can better show His love to us. Parents who adopt children do not really need a child, but they want one. God made everything (Colossians 1:16). … There are rules that should be followed (1 Peter 1:15). Just as parents of a child want to be respected and obeyed, God also wants to be respected and obeyed.

Adoption is expensive (1 Peter 1:18-19). We weren’t bought with gold or silver or precious stones, but we were bought with something much more precious, the life of His son. … Since we were bought at a price, we should really try even harder to honor God with our bodies (1 Corinthians 6:20).

There are benefits of adoption (John 1:12). We have the right of being called children of God. We can fellowship with God and His family. God takes care of us. … We get an inheritance (Luke 15:31).

Adoption is permanent (2 Corinthians 1:22). Nobody can take us away from our Father.

There is one big difference in human adoption and our adoption by God. … When parents want to adopt a child, the doesn’t really have a choice. But God has already asked to adopt us and we have to accept His invitation to become His children.

WAITING

We are still WAITING and it has been 10 months since we were home studied approved. Some days are easier then others but I have to keep remembering God is in control. We have really not had any actions but have had a few people say they know of someone and wants our information but have not heard anything else from any of these situations. We just pray for the birthparents and the decisions that they are having to make. They have the hardest part and are stronger then the credit they get. I can't imagine what all they go through. Please if you are reading this support any birthparent you know and DON'T judge them. Our hearts or so open to them and wanting a relationship that is best for everyone involved.
While we are waiting we are enjoying our time together and time with family. We are so blessed to have wonderful families!
Hopefully, we will be chosen soon and can start loving our child.
Thanks for your prayers during this journey and anytime.

Update

Well, I had decided to just let this blog be more of a profile so I don't get on it much but thought I would update some today.
We are still anxiously waiting any information regarding our forever child. Some days the wait are easier then others. I am so ready for Johnny and I to begin the journey of raising our child. I know that God has a plan and His own timetable, which is not our time. Prayer for adoption and all involved is a constant in our lives. We now have a youtube video: Johnny & Kim Adoption - Middle TN, check it out.

Child of My Heart

Child of My Heart

Oh my child, child of my heart.
There is so much to tell you, where shall I start?
I know you're out there, maybe even now.
I know that God will lead you to me, someway somehow.

I may never feel you kick or hear your heart beat for that first time.
But, from the moment that I hold you, there will be no doubt that you are mine.

Maybe even now, your birth mom is considering what to do.
I can only imagine what she is going through.
Maybe she is a child herself, with dreams to fulfill.
Maybe she is not ready for a little one, but I know she loves you still.
I know her heart must be breaking, and at night she cannot sleep.
I know if it is possible, it's you she'd want to keep.

On the other side, I am waiting here.
I can sense her love for you and also her fear.
I wish that I could tell her of all the sleepless nights,
of all the test and procedures and the prayers that this time just maybe it would be right.

I could tell her of all the tears, of all the prayers we've had.
Of the times that I felt so lost, of all the times I've been sad.

I can offer a Mom to kiss away the hurt and tuck you in at night,
I can offer a Dad to teach you to play ball and how to fly a kite.
I can offer a home and a family complete with aunts, uncles, cousins, Nana and Papa.
They are all waiting for you, and loving you from afar.

I will share my love with you each and every day.
I will tell you of the woman who loved you in every single way.

I will make sure that you know just the sacrifice she made.
And if you someday want to meet her,
I will never try to dissuade.

For without this special women,
I would have never had the chance to love you.
My dream of being a Mom, would have never come true.

So, please if you are out there.
Please know I care.
I know what a sacrifice you are making and I would never judge you, that would be unfair.

I am praying for you even now and please know from the very start.
This child will always be a part of you and a child of my "heart".

***I found this poen and really liked it. I hope and pray that an open adoption is what you are looking for but we will understand if not. We are more than happy to have an open adoption even if that is exchanging letters and emails. Kim***
